Position Overview
The Faculty of Humanities and Cultural Studies is seeking applications for the esteemed position of Chair of Philosophy (pay grade W3). The successful candidate will embody the comprehensive scope of philosophy in both teaching and research.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the field of philosophy across its diverse dimensions in academic settings.
- Demonstrate a strong focus on the history of philosophy and theoretical philosophy.
- Exhibit a robust research portfolio with internationally recognized publications and a well-established academic network.
- Engage in securing external funding to support research initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of the faculty's academic profile.
- Teach ethics and philosophy modules within Teacher Education Programs and various interdisciplinary degree programs.
- Instruct courses in the philosophy of religion.
- Participate in teacher education examinations and deliver courses in both English and German.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a doctoral degree and demonstrate both pedagogical skill and academic excellence, typically evidenced by the quality of doctoral research and subsequent achievements. Additionally, candidates should hold the German formal postdoctoral habilitation qualification or equivalent academic credentials obtained in higher education settings.
Applicants must be under the age of 52 at the time of appointment.
