Position Overview:
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a Junior Research Scientist to engage in scientific inquiry within the Junior Research Group focused on Computational Social Science. The successful candidate will delve into computational techniques aimed at analyzing social systems, particularly emphasizing text and image data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct scientific research activities related to computational methods for the examination of social systems.
  • Focus on the analysis and classification of linguistic data and its dynamics sourced from social media platforms, alongside potential image data.
  • Contribute to the writing of scholarly articles for reputable journals.
  • Perform comprehensive literature reviews to support research initiatives.
  • Participate in academic conferences, presenting research findings and project developments.
  • Assist in the preparation of applications for external funding opportunities.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a university degree in applied computational sciences, complemented by a PhD. A strong enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research at the intersection of computer science and social sciences is essential, along with a methodological focus on natural language processing and network analysis.

Proficiency in data science tools, particularly in Python or R, is required. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting and possess a good command of both spoken and written English. Experience with natural language processing, large language models, longitudinal data, and data privacy/anonymization is highly desirable.
