About the Role:

Vitesco Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Export Control Legal Counsel to join our central Export Control team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with applicable export control regulations, particularly by negotiating with business partners, handling legal topics related to Export Control, supporting the implementation of internal processes, creating instructions, and establishing comprehensive training programs for various stakeholders.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously analyze and track new or changing export controls and sanction laws and regulations (EU, US, and other jurisdictions)
  • Negotiate with business partners to establish agreements and handle legal topics related to Export Control
  • Support the enhancement of our Internal Compliance Program
  • Manage regular risk monitoring of locations worldwide and implement countermeasures in collaboration with Export Control Coordinators and Specialists
  • Evaluate the potential impact of geopolitical changes on our businesses, communicate risks within our organization, and adapt internal processes accordingly
  • Support the Head of Export Control in optimizing internal strategies towards Export Control-related topics
  • Develop and implement policies, guidelines, and instructions
  • Provide legal guidance to the Export Control team, Coordinators, and business functions
  • Maintain regular communications with relevant Experts, Interfaces, and Coordinators within regions and cooperate with regional specialists
  • Define and implement a suitable and up-to-date training program for functions/employees in all locations with interfaces to Export Control matters
  • Support export compliance investigations and implement required remedial action
  • Support compliance assessments and audits; assist in investigations and support the implementation of corrective actions

Your Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a university degree in law
  • Several years of demonstrated international import/export and trade compliance experience
  • Legal expertise in EU and US Export Controls and Sanctions compliance and regulations
  • Knowledge in Customs compliance and HS classification (desirable)
  • Fluent English language skills (written and spoken); German will be appreciated
  • Integrity, communication skills, and intercultural knowledge to foster collaboration and develop best-in-class trade compliance practices
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capability to deal with complex and conflicting situations
  • Team player
