International Export Compliance Counsel

In a global context, as a key member of our central Export Control division, the Export Control Legal Counsel is responsible for ensuring adherence to relevant export control laws and regulations. This includes negotiating agreements with our business partners, addressing legal matters associated with Export Control, facilitating the execution of internal protocols, crafting guidelines, and developing a comprehensive training program for various stakeholders.
The Legal Counsel – Export Control reports directly to the Head of Export Control, assisting in the ongoing improvement of the Internal Compliance Program (ICP) for the Vitesco Technologies group from a legal standpoint.
Key Responsibilities:
Ongoing analysis and monitoring of evolving export control and sanction laws and regulations across jurisdictions (EU, US, and others) Negotiating agreements with business partners and managing legal issues related to Export Control Contributing to the continuous enhancement of our Internal Compliance Program Overseeing regular risk assessments of global locations and implementing countermeasures in collaboration with Export Control Coordinators and Specialists, including communication at the management level Assessing the potential impact of geopolitical developments on our operations, communicating such risks within the organization, and adjusting internal processes as necessary Assisting the Head of Export Control in optimizing internal strategies concerning Export Control matters Formulating and executing policies, guidelines, and instructions Providing legal support to the Export Control team, Export Control Coordinators, and business functions Maintaining regular communication with relevant experts, interfaces, and coordinators across regions, and collaborating with other regional specialists Designing and implementing an up-to-date training program for functions/employees in all locations with connections to Export Control issues, while supporting Export Control specialists in training delivery Aiding in the monitoring and integration of new legal entities and locations Supporting export compliance investigations and the implementation of necessary corrective actions Assisting in compliance assessments and audits; aiding in investigations and supporting the execution of corrective measuresQualifications:
Completion of a university degree in law Several years of proven international import/export and trade compliance experience Legal expertise in EU and US Export Controls and Sanctions compliance and regulations is essential Knowledge of Customs compliance and HS classification is a plus Proficiency in English, both written and spoken; German language skills are appreciated Strong integrity, communication skills, and intercultural awareness enable effective collaboration across multiple departments to develop best-in-class trade compliance practices Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities Capability to navigate complex and conflicting situations Team-oriented mindsetAt Vitesco Technologies, we value a working environment that promotes and actively supports diversity and inclusion.
