International Export Compliance Counsel

In a global context, as a vital member of our central Export Control division, the Export Control Legal Counsel is responsible for ensuring adherence to relevant export control laws and regulations. This includes negotiating agreements with business partners, addressing legal matters associated with Export Control, facilitating the execution of internal procedures, and developing comprehensive training programs for various stakeholders.
The Export Control Legal Counsel reports directly to the Head of Export Control, assisting in the ongoing improvement of the Internal Compliance Program (ICP) for Vitesco Technologies from a legal standpoint.
Your new responsibilities:
- Regularly assessing and monitoring updates or modifications to export control and sanction laws across different jurisdictions (EU, US, and others).
- Negotiating contracts with business partners and managing legal issues related to Export Control.
- Contributing to the continuous enhancement of our Internal Compliance Program.
- Overseeing regular risk assessments of global locations and implementing necessary countermeasures in collaboration with Export Control Coordinators and Specialists, including high-level communication.
- Assessing the potential effects of geopolitical developments on our operations, communicating identified risks within the organization, and adjusting internal processes as needed.
- Assisting the Head of Export Control in optimizing internal strategies concerning Export Control matters.
- Formulating and executing policies, guidelines, and instructions.
- Providing legal support to the Export Control team, Export Control Coordinators, and various business functions.
- Maintaining consistent communication with relevant experts, interfaces, and coordinators across regions and collaborating with other regional specialists.
- Designing and implementing an up-to-date training program for employees in all locations related to Export Control issues and supporting Export Control specialists in training delivery.
- Assisting in the monitoring and integration of new legal entities and locations.
- Supporting export compliance investigations and executing any necessary corrective actions.
- Assisting in compliance assessments and audits; participating in investigations and aiding in the implementation of corrective measures.
Your qualifications:
- A completed university degree in law.
- Several years of proven experience in international import/export and trade compliance.
- Legal expertise in EU and US Export Controls and Sanctions compliance is essential.
- Knowledge of Customs compliance and HS classification is advantageous.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in German is a plus.
- Your integrity, communication abilities, and intercultural awareness enable you to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and develop exemplary trade compliance practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Aptitude for managing complex and conflicting situations.
- A strong team player.
