Position Overview:
New York University Berlin is seeking a dedicated and full-time Student Services Coordinator for its Academic Center. This role is essential in enhancing the student experience through a variety of support services.
The Student Services Coordinator collaborates closely with the Program Manager of Student Life to deliver comprehensive services related to student engagement, including community initiatives, communication strategies, student conduct management, and residential life support. Additionally, this position involves training and overseeing a team of Resident Assistants, ensuring their effective integration into the broader student services framework.
Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Services Management (35%)- Provide administrative assistance to the Program Manager, including the development and management of protocols, statistical data, and scheduling.
- Guide the Student Life Administrator in the timely processing of local police registrations, university enrollments, and visa applications for incoming students.
- Support students in accessing external services, such as healthcare appointments and insurance options.
- Document and manage student conduct cases, facilitating conflict resolution and liaising with main campus offices.
- Coordinate student organizations and volunteer initiatives.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Program Manager and Site Director.
- In partnership with the Program Manager, train and supervise a team of Resident Assistants.
- Act as the primary contact for Resident Assistants, addressing daily operational tasks and collaborating with the Operations team on housing matters.
- Ensure the seamless integration of Resident Assistants within the Student Life team.
- Oversee programming offered by Resident Assistants across all housing locations.
- Participate in on-call emergency response rotations, being available to address crises during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Maintain the Staff-on-Call rotation schedule.
- Engage in wellness training and diversity workshops.
- Assist in creating manuals that cover safety information and travel advisories.
- Collaborate with the Academics team to design and coordinate immersive student programming, including workshops, seminars, and excursions.
- Accompany students on trips throughout the semester.
- Ensure effective communication with students regarding all aspects of Student Life, including producing materials for newsletters and social media.
- Regularly update the information website.
- Prepare memos and other publication materials.
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Proven experience in producing and editing English texts, such as handbooks and newsletters.
- A minimum of four years of relevant work experience.
- Fluency in both German and English.
- Exceptional intercultural and interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment to service excellence and delivering high-quality solutions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks creatively.
- Experience in organizing events and trips for large groups.
- High flexibility and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-directed.
- Willingness to work occasional Saturdays.
- Familiarity with various technology platforms, including macOS, Microsoft Windows, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- A valid work permit for Germany is required.
- A genuine interest in engaging with a diverse international student body.
- Previous experience living, working, or studying abroad is advantageous.
