Supplier Relationship Manager for Nutrition

Position Overview: This role is centered on managing supplier relationships for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and Ingredients specifically for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. Responsibilities include supplier selection, ongoing maintenance, performance evaluations, international contract negotiations, and development agreements, while collaborating closely with key account and technical representatives from suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the API/Ingredient supplier relationship from selection through to product approval for both new and existing products.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the internal development team and the vendor base to address API/Ingredient challenges throughout the supplier selection and drug/product application submission processes.
  • Facilitate all general and business discussions between internal departments and suppliers.
  • Manage Key Supplier relationships for strategically important suppliers.
  • Collaborate with various departments within the company (R&D, QA/QC, Legal, Finance/Accounting, EHS, Supply Chain, Local Purchasing) to provide necessary API-related information and support.
  • Conduct visits to key markets, fairs, and suppliers to stay informed about evolving market conditions.
  • Support and implement a comprehensive process from sourcing to contract.
  • Engage in Market Screening, Supplier Selection, and the establishment of supply agreements.
  • Execute a thorough Request for Quotation (RFQ) process.
  • Consolidate and manage forecasts across different production sites and suppliers.

Candidate Profile:

  • A completed university degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related natural science field, or a degree in Business Administration.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in sourcing or procurement within the pharmaceutical or medical nutrition sectors.
  • Experience working in an international matrix-driven organization and a preference for intercultural team environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical nutrition ingredients and/or Pharmaceutical API sourcing.
  • Familiarity with drug product development and raw material development processes.
  • Understanding of regulatory processes for APIs and relevant industry knowledge.
  • Strong negotiation skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and consensus-building abilities.
  • A solution-oriented mindset, capable of working both collaboratively and independently.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.
  • Proficiency in English and German (both written and spoken).
  • Competence in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Teams, Excel).
