Postdoctoral Researcher in Plant Structure Dynamics under Agrivoltaics

Your Role:

Investigate the diurnal and seasonal variations in canopy structure influenced by agrivoltaics
Generate 3-dimensional data on plant canopies utilizing both commercial and experimental plant phenotyping techniques, and develop methods to derive quantitative plant traits from 3-D point clouds
Analyze the impact of dynamically modified light and precipitation patterns on key traits of relevant agricultural and horticultural crops
Collaborate with the research consortium to optimize the interplay between energy harvesting from the agrivoltaics system and plant growth beneath
Compile findings and prepare reports for the funding agency
Leverage project outcomes for scientific publications and present findings to the academic community
Mentor students and oversee student projects

Your Qualifications:

Master’s Degree and PhD in plant sciences, plant biology, plant physiology, agriculture, or related fields
Strong foundation in whole plant eco-physiology, plant growth, and/or plant architecture
Proficient in methods for measuring plant structure in both greenhouse and field settings
Familiarity with using and interpreting 3D data from the PlantEye instrument is highly advantageous
Enthusiasm for working at the intersection of applied and fundamental research
Documented history of publications in a related area and the capability to summarize scientific findings in project reports and journals
Excellent English communication and writing skills.
