About the Institute

The Institute of Bio- and Geosciences – Agrosphere (IBG-3) focuses on enhancing our comprehension of biogeochemical and hydrological processes within terrestrial environments. Our research encompasses:

  • Investigating environmental influences on the biogeochemical cycling of elements.
  • Analyzing exchange processes and nutrient dynamics within the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum.
  • Employing a blend of experimental methods, modeling techniques, and cutting-edge observational technologies to connect model, process, and management scales.

This research is pivotal for promoting sustainable and resource-efficient soil and water utilization, as well as assessing the impacts of climate and land use changes on terrestrial ecosystems.
