Portfolio Optimization Analyst in Energy Trading

The Gas Department plays a crucial role in the proactive management and enhancement of various gas-related activities within the EWE Group. This encompasses sales trading, asset trading, and the management of both physical and financial flexibility products, alongside origination efforts in European markets. Given the increasing complexity and dynamism of global gas markets, we are looking for skilled support in gas portfolio management.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct analysis of product and portfolio sensitivities utilizing market data and scenarios through quantitative methodologies.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers to devise effective hedging strategies that incorporate volatility markets and weather derivatives.
- Enhance tools for evaluating and operationally controlling gas portfolio management in close partnership with portfolio managers.
- Maintain effective communication with relevant EWE units and coordinate gas-specific initiatives.
- Oversee the database infrastructure related to gas portfolio management to ensure transparency and automate processes.
Your Qualifications:
- A degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related field (Diploma or Master's) or equivalent qualifications.
- A proactive attitude, curiosity to understand complex relationships, and a strong team-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated quantitative and analytical capabilities, with a solid grasp of statistical models and methodologies.
- Proficient programming skills (preferably in Python) and familiarity with MS Office applications.
- Experience in the energy or financial sectors, particularly in energy trading or markets, is advantageous.
- Fluency in both German and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
