Renewable Energy Procurement Lead

What to Expect
- Tesla is accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. Revolutionary strategies and products were developed within a few years and successfully launched on a large scale. This is only possible through extraordinary speed, innovation and efficiency.

The Lead will be expected to lead commercial negotiations, develop fundamental models of industry trends, interface with renewable energy developers, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to execute on a company-wide renewable energy strategy. The role is highly dynamic, and growth opportunities include global engagement, complex deal negotiation, and strategic partnership development.

What You’ll Do
- Lead origination, commercial negotiation, and contracting for renewable energy power purchase agreements (PPAs) located in North America, Europe, and Asia
- Integrate renewable energy and emission mitigation strategies across the company, which may include onsite solar, offsite power purchase agreements, retail electricity supply, utility green tariffs, or other mechanisms
- Execute on strategy by obtaining budget and approvals, reviewing and negotiating contracts, solving problems with few resources, and educating key stakeholders and decision makers
- Provide detailed fundamental market analysis to support energy procurement decisions and develop expert local market knowledge on energy markets, including supply and demand dynamics and energy pricing
- Ensure accurate external financial reporting by working with accounting, audit, and sustainability teams and produce weekly and monthly financial reports for the business and finance teams
- Partner with internal automation teams to streamline new market expansion
- Conduct face-to-face meetings with counterparties and team members across Tesla’s energy markets teams

What You’ll Bring
- Evidence of exceptional ability in a professional capacity with at least 5 years of job specific experience, including at least three years in a role related to corporate renewable energy procurement
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Business, Finance and/or Engineering
- Fundamental understanding of global energy trends impacting renewable energy markets and ability to read and interpret financial statements, analyst reports, regulations, and technical documents
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to synthesize complex topics into understandable points, particularly with senior business leaders and external stakeholders in English (both written and spoken). Additional European languages are a plus
- Highly collaborative, team oriented, and comfortable leading cross-functional projects and ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Creative thinking with the ability to solve problems with limited information and sense of humor and comfort with ambiguous environments
