- full-time (100 %)-
**Your tasks**:
- Conduct independent research, publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences
- Develop collaborations with national and international research partners and laboratories, leveraging collective expertise and resources
- Perform sample preparation and analysis of preserved organic compounds in archaeological ceramics using gas chromatography, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and gas chromatography-isotope ratio mass spectrometry; create local modern references of food products using the same techniques
- Oversee laboratory operations (including data management and the maintenance and repair of analytical instruments) and supervise technical personnel
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members and visiting researchers, including supervision and training of graduate students
**Your profile**:
- In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in - 57 of the _Hochschulgesetz_ of Rhineland-Palatinate.
- A successfully completed scientific university degree
- PhD (or nearing completion) in geochemistry, archaeological sciences or a closely related field
- In-depth knowledge of organic and analytical chemistry
- Expertise and extensive practical experience in gas chromatography, mass spectrometry and stable isotope techniques
- Proven ability to analyse, critically evaluate and interpret data
- Demonstrated ability and motivation to acquire proficiency in new analytical techniques
- Very good communication skills (verbal and written) in German and English and a record of peer-reviewed publications
**Optional qualifications and skills**:
- Experience with geochemical analyses of archaeological samples
- Experience in radiocarbon dating
- Knowledge of archaeology and/or an interest in this field of study
