Program Assistant, Student Life (m/w/d) New York University Berlin

New York University (NYU) Berlin is looking for a full-time Program Assistant, Student Life for the Academic Center in Prenzlauer Berg.

Position Summary

The Program Assistant, Student Life role at NYU Berlin's Academic Center involves providing support for various services including administration, extracurricular programming, communication, safety, wellness, emergency response, and residential life services. This is a 2-year fixed-term position.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Administrative Support (40%):
    • Provide administrative support to the Program Manager, Student Life, and other staff.
    • Assist with paperwork processing for incoming students and office management tasks.
    • Help train new Resident Assistants.
    • Other tasks assigned by the Program Manager.
  • Support of Extracurricular Programming (30%):
    • Assist in organizing student programming, workshops, and excursions.
    • Accompany students on trips.
    • Assist with event arrangements.
  • Student Safety and Wellness (15%):
    • Participate in emergency response activities.
    • Create schedules and participate in training seminars.
    • Assist in safety-related information creation.
  • Communication (15%):
    • Ensure effective communication with students.
    • Contribute to the Student Newsletter and other material production.
Position Qualifications

Required Education: University degree.

Required Experience: Previous experience abroad.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in German and English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle emergencies.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proactive and problem-solving mindset.
  • Confident public speaker.
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups.
  • Flexible and patient.
  • Work permit for Germany valid through 2026.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in student services and university administration.
  • Understanding of German culture and Berlin.
  • Experience in editing English texts.
  • Interest in supporting international students.
  • Familiarity with IT and social media.
  • Ability to organize events for large groups.
