**Scientific Head (Laboratory Head) Analytical Development (M/F/d)**

The Analytical Development API (ADA) department supports the R&D function of the Pharmaceuticals Division in the chemical-pharmaceutical development of new active ingredients (NCEs incl. new modalities). The field of activity covers all analytical work from method development (HPLC, GC, LC-MS) and validation up to stability analysis and QC release of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), intermediates and raw materials.

**YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Supervise and scientifically coach a project laboratory team in the analytical development of APIs
- Test and evaluate the quality of APIs, their precursors and raw materials to support the chemical process optimization and establish an API control strategy in collaboration with the Chemical Development department
- Plan and execute stability studies for APIs under GMP/GLP
- Further develop quality control concepts for APIs as well as process-accompanying analytics by physical and chemical characterization of APIs
- Develop and validate selective and robust analytical methods, especially in the field of chromatography (HPLC, GC) and mass spectrometry (LC-MS)
- Prepare registration documents and reply to authorities' inquiries as well as represent of Analytical Development API in technical development teams
- Participate in scientific exchange groups or digitalization initiatives

**WHO YOU ARE**
- Master´s degree in (analytical) chemistry, pharmacy or food chemistry, preferably with PhD
- Leadership experience in managing or supervision of lab personnel (especially in matrix organizations) as well as ability to foster open dialogue and collaboration among the team
- Several years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry in the development, manufacturing and testing of APIs and their precursors
- Experience with modern concepts for risk evaluation of new drug substances (according to guidelines ICH Q8 to Q11)
- In-depth knowledge in instrumental analysis (especially HPLC, GC, MS) as well as good knowledge of organic/medicinal chemistry
- Knowledge of GMP regulations and regulatory requirements of health authorities, especially with regard to the primary marketing approval of new drug products is of advantage
- Passion to innovate, especially in the field of digitalization and lab automation, as well as excellent communication skills
- Fluent in English and German, both verbal and written
