**About the role**

We’re hiring a Head of Underwriting/ Senior Underwriter to lead the development of our credit team in Luxembourg as we expand into the EU, including key markets such as Germany. This is a rare opportunity to take on a foundational role in shaping the next phase of our growth.

As the first credit hire in the region, you’ll be responsible for establishing and leading our credit function across Luxembourg, Germany and the EU, with a focus on building scalable, efficient processes to support our growth. You’ll oversee risk assessment and decisioning frameworks, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless experience for our partners and SME customers. This role requires strong commercial judgment and the ability to balance growth with sound risk management.

You’ll collaborate with our experienced teams in Australia and the UK, sharing insights and aligning best practices, while tailoring our credit approach to the needs of the European market. This is a key leadership role where your decisions will shape how we grow and operate across the region.

Whether you're a strong Senior Underwriter ready to take the next step, or already operating at Head-of level, this is your opportunity to lead, build, and make a lasting impact. **You will be responsible and accountable for**:

- Supporting and reporting to one of our Co-Founders
- Conducting funding interviews with SME owners to better understand business models and risk profiles
- Providing regular analysis of credit performance, portfolio diversification, and emerging trends
- Leading continuous improvement across our underwriting processes, systems, and policies
- Refining credit policies tailored to local market conditions and regulations
- Collaborating closely with Product, Legal, and Operations to align credit strategy with business objectives
- Staying informed on economic, regulatory, and industry trends in Luxembourg, Germany and the EU, and assessing their impact on credit risk
- Building and mentoring a high-performing credit team as we scale our EU operations
- Ensuring compliance with Luxembourg regulatory requirements and supporting relevant audits or reviews

**We believe our ideal applicant will demonstrate the following attributes**:

- You will have a strong understanding of Financial Reporting Obligations and have the ability to ensure compliance across the business
- Experience with Small Business Loans
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver under pressure
- 3+ years in a similar Risk or Credit role
- SME business lending preferred
- A genuine interest in solving problems and thinking outside of the box
- University degree in business, finance or similar
- Fluency in English is essential, with German and French strongly preferred
- Background in credit underwriting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Clear, concise communication style
- Previous experience in alternative lenders or non-banking entities desirable
