**About the role**:
As Head of Underwriting (M/F/d) you will be responsible for the performance and quality of all processes relating to the underwriting of our corporate clients at Pliant.
In this role you will work closely with Falko, our VP of Credit, and our wider Sales, Product and Tech teams.
**Your responsibilities**:
- Underwriting: your team will analyze business and financial information of our clients from various sources (e.g commercial registers, credit agencies, PSD2 data, financial statements and interim reports) and you will ensure excellence in these processes
- Credit decision: Your team decides on limit requests from our customers within their mandate which you will support and further develop through your leadership and offer guidance and critical thinking where needed
- Documentation: Drafting professional documents, e.g. SOPs, internal guidelines, and exceptional credit decisions
- Innovation: You will dive into operational workflows and IT systems and understand how to systematise them and continuously improve them together with your team and colleagues in the wider Pliant community
- Communication: As Head of Underwriting you will display strong communication and leadership skills, but have a strong team work ethos and willing to work in a startup environment where being hands on is key to your team's success
**Your Profile**:
- Operational leadership experience, ideally from a bank or fintech
- Strong experience in business operations, preferably risk analysis and loan processing
- Experience and strong skills in financial and risk analysis for corporate clients or SME exposures
- Experience with IT systems used for loan processing
- Analytical thinking, detail orientation and ability to quickly understand new problems, systems and work out solutions
- A determination and desire to lead a diverse team focused on providing the best results for our clients at all times
- Fluency in English, any other European language is a plus
