**Your future plans**
With this exciting opportunity you are responsible for the daily operational and economical optimisation of RWE Supply & Trading GmbH's (RWEST) gas assets in Continental Europe on intraday basis. This includes the commercial optimisation of RWEST’s gas assets versus the spot and imbalance market, decision upon and executing of the spot deals on multiple electronic gas trading platforms (EEX Spot, ICE ENDEX, CEGH, POLPX, GME, GET Baltic) or/and against external counterparties (OTC trading), capacity booking during out of office hours as well as all operational aspects of these activities, detection, trading and execution of the time
- and/or locational spreads.

You’ll be responsible for taking real-time scheduling and trading decisions in both day-to-day and time-critical Security-of-Supply situations like gas production field failures, price peaks on the gas exchange, big load deviations of the retail portfolio et cetera. You execute scheduling, nominations and balancing activities and take the lead in exceptional operational issues. Your decisions have immediate financial consequences, so attention to detail is key.
- Physical spot gas trading on continuous electronic markets and OTC Trading with external counterparties
- Commercial optimisation of RWEST’s gas portfolio across NW Europe on an intraday and partly day-ahead basis versus the spot and imbalance markets; real-time decision-making to utilise gas assets in accordance with their marginal costs
- Detection of locational arbitrage opportunities involving transport capacity for both within-day and next gas day and booking of necessary capacities on the PRISMA capacity platform under time pressure
- Execute scheduling, nominations and balancing activities for RWEST throughout Europe within critical deadlines and under time pressure
- Keep in close contact with trading counterparties, suppliers, grid operators as well as production business units and short-term gas traders in order to minimise losses in emergency situations like gas storage or gas field outages
- Strongly liaise and cooperate with our partner Global Gas Operations locations London and Prague
- Use & adapt Algorithmic Trading-Bots to generate profits jointly with Short-Term-portfolio Management as well as bring in new ideas for their environment

**Your powerful skills**
- Academic level in e.g. natural-/data sciences, engineering, economics or comparable quantitative background
- Ability to make quick decisions and to work under pressure with high sense of responsibility
- Strong team player & excellent communicator with a high degree of personal commitment, motivation and the ability to work independently
- Willingness to work shifts (full continuous three-shift operation)
- Fluent in English (verbal & written)

**Advantageous, but not a must**
- Experience in the energy sector or in any type of trading environment
- Other language skills (e.g. Dutch, German)
