Adjunct Faculty

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Communications courses in our Campus Within Walls program. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students in a correctional setting, utilizing a variety of instructional methods to engage and support student learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Communications courses to students in a correctional setting
  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans and instructional materials
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Communications or a related field
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Adept knowledge of instructional technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal and native or near-native oral and written English skills
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, students, internal and external constituencies
  • Ability to meet college deadlines
  • Must pass Virginia Department of Corrections background screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior working experience in a community college or other higher education setting
  • Prior working experience in a correctional center
  • Professional experience in PeopleSoft or similar student registration software program
  • Prior working experience with Learning Management Systems, especially Canvas
  • Professional experience with Microsoft Office Suite Software, in particular, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
