Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated and experienced Adjunct Faculty member to join our team at Southside Virginia Community College. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education to our students, particularly those incarcerated in correctional centers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Health Sciences courses to students in correctional centers, utilizing a variety of instructional methods and technologies.
  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations to ensure student learning outcomes.
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to students, addressing their academic and personal needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and college administrators to ensure seamless program delivery and student success.
  • Stay current with industry developments and best practices in Health Sciences education.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Health Sciences or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Adept knowledge of instructional technologies and learning management systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a correctional setting and interact with diverse student populations.
  • Meet college deadlines and submit required reporting, including grades.
  • Pass Virginia Department of Corrections background screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience teaching in a community college or higher education setting.
  • Prior experience working in a correctional center or related field.
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft or similar student registration software.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems, especially Canvas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Software, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
