This program is designed to empower students through education, facilitating their successful reintegration into society.

The adjunct faculty will play a crucial role in delivering English courses within correctional settings, contributing to the personal and professional development of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective English instruction to incarcerated students.
- Utilize innovative teaching strategies to accommodate various learning styles.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with students and correctional staff.
- Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with program coordinators to ensure curriculum alignment with educational standards.
- Travel to different correctional facilities as required for course delivery.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in English or a related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in English.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Proficient in instructional technologies and teaching methodologies.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to engage professionally with diverse groups.
- Successful completion of a background screening as mandated by the Virginia Department of Corrections.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in a community college or higher education environment.
- Prior experience working within correctional facilities.
- Familiarity with student registration software and Learning Management Systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
