Job Summary:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated and experienced Adjunct Faculty member to join our team at Southside Virginia Community College. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education to our students, particularly those incarcerated in correctional centers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Health Sciences courses to students in correctional centers, utilizing a variety of instructional methods and technologies.
- Develop and implement effective lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations to ensure student learning outcomes.
- Provide individualized support and guidance to students, addressing their academic and personal needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues and college administrators to ensure seamless program delivery and student success.
- Stay current with industry developments and best practices in Health Sciences education.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Health Sciences or a related field.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Adept knowledge of instructional technologies and learning management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a correctional setting and interact with diverse student populations.
- Meet college deadlines and submit required reporting, including grades.
- Pass Virginia Department of Corrections background screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience teaching in a community college or higher education setting.
- Prior experience working in a correctional center or related field.
- Proficiency in PeopleSoft or similar student registration software.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems, especially Canvas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Software, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
