Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty - Mathematics Instructor to join our team at Southside Virginia Community College. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching Mathematics courses to incarcerated students at one of our correctional centers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Mathematics courses to incarcerated students in a correctional setting
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to students
  • Meet college deadlines and submit required reporting
  • Interact with staff, students, and internal and external constituencies in a professional manner

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Mathematics or a related field
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Adept knowledge of instructional technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal and written English skills
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, students, internal and external constituencies
  • Ability to meet college deadlines
  • Must pass Virginia Department of Corrections background screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior working experience in a community college or higher education setting
  • Prior working experience in a correctional center
  • Professional experience with Learning Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite Software
