About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced expert in microphysiological systems to join our team at Bayer. As a key member of our research and development team, you will play a critical role in advancing our understanding of microphysiological systems and their applications in the pharmaceutical industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement advanced in vitro cell models and organ-on-chip (OoC) technologies to support our project portfolio in various therapeutic areas and platforms.
  • Design, implement, and qualify cutting-edge in vitro assays for specific application areas.
  • Provide scientific support for pharmaceutical R&D projects with expertise in organ-on-chip (OoC) technology.
  • Lead technical personnel in the development and implementation of advanced in vitro cell models.
  • Participate in collaborative projects, including communication with project partners and contract research teams.
  • Engage actively in exchange with internal and external scientific communities, including participation in conferences and publication in scientific journals.
  • Supervise bachelor and master students.
Requirements
  • You hold a PhD in Tissue Engineering, Biotechnology, or related fields and have several years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • You have expert knowledge in cell biology, tissue engineering, 3D cell culture techniques, and organ-on-a-chip (OoC) technology, and ideally have extensive knowledge in stem cell biology or immunology.
  • You bring practical experience with microfluidic platforms and have successfully developed, implemented, or applied various complex in vitro cell models.
  • You demonstrate practical experience in modern analytical techniques in cell and molecular biology, required for the performance of complex in vitro assays, including qPCR, immunoassays, in situ hybridization, high-content imaging, microscopy (live/confocal), and TEER measurement.
  • You have experience in image analysis (deep learning or object-based analysis techniques) as well as handling and processing and storing complex data.
  • You possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build trust-based working relationships and work effectively in a team.
  • You demonstrate creativity, unconventional thinking, initiative, and a willingness to take risks. You have the ability to work independently, design, perform, and interpret experiments, and adapt to new scientific methods.
  • You have fluent English skills in writing and speaking.
