Job Summary

We are seeking an Expert Microphysiological Systems Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our pharmaceutical R&D team, you will apply cutting-edge in vitro cell models and Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technology to support our project portfolio across various therapeutic indications and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced in vitro assays for defined applications
  • Provide scientific support for pharmaceutical R&D projects with expertise in Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technology
  • Guide technical staff in developing and implementing advanced in vitro cell models
  • Participate in collaborative projects, including communication with project partners and contract research teams
  • Engage with internal and external scientific communities, including attending conferences and publishing in scientific journals
  • Supervise bachelor's and master's students

Requirements

  • PhD in Tissue Engineering, Biotechnology, or related fields and several years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Expert knowledge in cell biology, tissue engineering, 3D cell culture techniques, and Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technology, ideally with extensive knowledge in stem cell biology or immunology
  • Practical experience with microfluidic platforms and demonstrably developed, implemented, or applied various complex in vitro cell models successfully
  • Practical experience in state-of-the-art analytical techniques in cell and molecular biology required for conducting complex in vitro assays, including qPCR, immunoassays, in situ hybridization, high-content imaging, microscopy (live/confocal), and TEER measurement
  • Experience in image analysis (deep learning or object-based analysis techniques) as well as handling, processing, and storing highly complex data
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build trusting working relationships and collaborate effectively within a team
  • Creativity, unconventional thinking, initiative, and a willingness to take risks
  • Ability to work independently, design, conduct, and interpret experiments, and engage with new scientific methods
  • Fluent English skills, both spoken and written
