Position: Expert in Microphysiological Systems (all genders)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize state-of-the-art in vitro cell models and Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technology to advance Bayer's project initiatives across various therapeutic areas.
  • Design, implement, and validate sophisticated in vitro assays tailored for specific applications.
  • Provide scientific expertise to pharmaceutical R&D projects, focusing on Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technology.
  • Mentor technical staff in the development and execution of advanced in vitro cell models.
  • Engage in collaborative projects, facilitating communication with project partners and contract research organizations.
  • Actively participate in scientific communities, including attending conferences and contributing to scientific publications.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate students in research projects.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Tissue Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related discipline, with several years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of cell biology, tissue engineering, 3D cell culture techniques, and Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technology, preferably with expertise in stem cell biology or immunology.
  • Hands-on experience with microfluidic platforms and a proven track record in developing and applying complex in vitro cell models.
  • Proficient in advanced analytical techniques in cell and molecular biology necessary for executing intricate in vitro assays, including qPCR, immunoassays, in situ hybridization, high-content imaging, and microscopy (live/confocal).
  • Experience in image analysis, including deep learning or object-based analysis techniques, as well as managing and processing complex datasets.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster collaborative relationships within a team.
  • Demonstrated creativity, innovative thinking, initiative, and a willingness to embrace challenges.
  • Ability to work autonomously, design and interpret experiments, and explore new scientific methodologies.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
