Position: Expert in Microphysiological Systems (all genders)
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize state-of-the-art in vitro cell models and Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technologies to advance Bayer's diverse project portfolio across multiple therapeutic areas.
- Design, implement, and validate sophisticated in vitro assays tailored for specific applications.
- Provide scientific expertise in Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technology to support pharmaceutical research and development initiatives.
- Mentor technical personnel in the development and application of advanced in vitro cell models.
- Engage in collaborative projects, facilitating communication with project partners and contract research organizations.
- Actively participate in scientific communities, including attending conferences and contributing to scientific publications.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate students in their research endeavors.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Tissue Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related discipline, with substantial experience in the pharmaceutical sector.
- In-depth knowledge of cell biology, tissue engineering, 3D cell culture methodologies, and Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technologies, with a strong background in stem cell biology or immunology preferred.
- Hands-on experience with microfluidic systems and a proven track record in developing and applying complex in vitro cell models.
- Proficiency in advanced analytical techniques in cell and molecular biology essential for executing intricate in vitro assays, including qPCR, immunoassays, in situ hybridization, high-content imaging, and microscopy.
- Experience in image analysis techniques, including deep learning or object-based analysis, along with skills in managing and processing complex datasets.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, fostering collaborative relationships within a team environment.
- Demonstrated creativity, innovative thinking, initiative, and a readiness to embrace challenges.
- Capability to work autonomously, design and conduct experiments, and explore new scientific methodologies.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
