Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Amentum. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex heavy equipment systems, including track vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose system malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct deficiencies using technical manuals and expertise.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment, ensuring accurate and efficient repairs.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace components, engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies.
  • Identify parts in repair manuals and place order requests for needed parts.
  • Perform scheduled services on equipment fleet, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Conduct road tests on vehicles after repairs and services have been completed.
  • Maintain accurate daily timesheets and manning reports.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • 6 years' experience as a mechanic, with 4 years' specialized experience working with heavy equipment track vehicles.
  • Army MOS 91A/91M/91P preferred.
  • Ability to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
  • US Citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret Army Technical Manuals.
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, and outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to situations where risk of electrical shock and vibration exist.
