Sanitary, Heating, and Air Conditioning Technician

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
INTERNAL Local National Employees in Germany. This includes all local employees of the U.S. Forces in Germany, covering the Air Force and AAFES-Europe.
EXTERNAL Local National Applicants residing in Germany are also welcome to apply.
The role involves a range of operations, maintenance, and repair tasks on various utility systems. This includes managing large central or single fuel oil, natural gas, liquid gas, and wood-fired heating plants, as well as low/high temperature and pressure heating systems, hot water and steam systems, and air conditioning systems. Responsibilities include:
- Activating, deactivating, filling, venting, and draining systems to ensure safe operation.
- Maintaining and repairing tanks, pipes, pressure gauges, and safety devices.
- Locating and fixing broken or malfunctioning equipment, including replacing defective parts.
- Using standard tools and methods to perform repairs and maintenance.
- Conducting water and air quality tests to ensure compliance with technical standards.
- Operating and maintaining a transport vehicle as required.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
A-5:
Completion of vocational training lasting at least 30 months in the relevant trade or 5 years of specialized experience.
A-6:
Completion of vocational training in the relevant trade plus 2 years of experience at a comparable difficulty level, or 8 years of specialized experience with at least 3 years at the equivalent level.
Applicants must possess a valid German driver's license class B and demonstrate English proficiency at level A1 and German proficiency at level B2.
The position requires:
- Occasional travel within Germany.
- Availability for weekend, holiday, and shift work.
- On-call duty as necessary.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
