Sanitary, Heating, and Air Conditioning Technician

Sanitary, Heating, and Air Conditioning Technician Location: Germany Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be either:
1. Current internal local national employees of the U.S. Forces in Germany, including the Air Force and AAFES-Europe.
2. External local national applicants residing in Germany.

Key Responsibilities

The technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the operation, maintenance, and repair of various utility systems. This includes:
- Large central or individual heating plants utilizing fuel oil, natural gas, liquid gas, or wood.
- Low and high temperature and pressure heating systems.
- Hot water and steam systems, as well as radiator and floor heating systems.
- Air handling and air conditioning systems.
- Domestic hot water generation and solar heating systems.
- Maintenance of tanks, pipes, gauges, and safety devices.
- Conducting tests and ensuring the safe operation of all systems.
- Performing repairs on utility, supply, and disposal systems, including plumbing fixtures and components.
- Utilizing standard tools and techniques of the trade, including electronic testing equipment and hand tools.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following educational and experience requirements:
- A-5: Completion of vocational training in the relevant trade for at least 30 months or 5 years of specialized experience.
- A-6: Completion of vocational training plus 2 years of experience at a comparable level, or 8 years of specialized experience with at least 3 years at the equivalent level.
Additionally, a valid German driver's license (Class B) is required, along with English proficiency at level A1 and German proficiency at level B2.

Working Conditions

The role may require:
- Occasional travel within Germany.
- Working on weekends, holidays, and shift work.
- On-call duties as necessary.
- Ability to lift and carry weights up to 40 lbs.
