Sanitary, Heating, and Air Conditioning Mechanic

SANITARY, HEATING, AND AIR CONDITIONING MECHANIC Location: Germany Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be current internal local national employees within Germany, which includes all local staff of the U.S. Forces, or external local national applicants residing in Germany.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves a diverse range of operations, maintenance, and repair tasks across various utility systems. This includes managing large central or individual heating plants powered by fuel oil, natural gas, liquid gas, or wood, as well as low and high-temperature heating systems, hot water and steam systems, and air conditioning units. Responsibilities include:

  • Activating, deactivating, filling, venting, and draining systems while ensuring safe operation.
  • Maintaining and repairing tanks, pipes, gauges, control devices, and safety equipment.
  • Identifying and rectifying issues with equipment and fixtures, including replacing defective parts.
  • Utilizing trade tools effectively and performing necessary calculations based on layout drawings.
  • Conducting tests on installed systems to ensure proper functionality and safety.
  • Regularly maintaining transport vehicles and ensuring tools and equipment are in good condition.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • A completed vocational training of at least 30 months in the relevant trade or 5 years of specialized experience.
  • For higher levels, a combination of vocational training and additional experience is required.
  • A valid German driver's license class B is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in English (A1) and German (B2) is required.
Employment Conditions

The incumbent may be required to travel within Germany and work on weekends, holidays, and shifts. On-call duty is also necessary, along with the ability to lift and carry weights up to 40 lbs.
