Job Title: Mechanic for Sanitary, Heating, and Climate Systems

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic for Sanitary, Heating, and Climate Systems to join our team at U.S. Army Europe and Africa. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of operations, maintenance, and repairs on different types of utility systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on heating and cooling systems, including large central or single fuel oil/natural gas/liquid gas/wood-fired heating plants, hot water/steam systems, radiator/floor/radiant heating systems, hot air blower/ventilation systems, and domestic hot water generation systems.
  • Activate, deactivate, fill, vent, and drain systems to ensure safe operation of all plants and systems.
  • Maintain and repair oil or liquid gas tanks, pipes, pressure gauges, temperature/pressure control devices, safety devices, oil burner assembly, oil/gas/wood fired boilers, hot water generators, thermostats, electric/electronic control devices/panels, pumps, and other equipment.
  • Locate broken, worn, damaged, or poorly operating equipment, fixtures, or parts, and remove, replace, clean, repack, and seal defective parts and equipment.
  • Test installed parts and equipment for proper and safe operation.
Requirements:
  • Completed vocational training of at least 30 months in the appropriate trade, or 5 years of specialized experience, or completed vocational training in the appropriate trade PLUS 2 years experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the Wage Group 5 or equivalent.
  • Must be in possession of a German driver's license class B.
  • English Language Proficiency level A1 and German Language Proficiency level B2 required.
Working Conditions:

The incumbent of this position is occasionally required to perform TDY (Temporary Duty Travel) and work on weekends, Sundays, and holidays, as well as shift work. On-Call duty is also required. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
