About the Position

We are looking for a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) in Bremerhaven. As a key member of our Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative concepts and cutting-edge technologies to protect critical maritime infrastructures.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop datasets and experiments for the 3D reconstruction of maritime objects. This involves working on the development, construction, and commissioning of experiments, as well as verifying them in a virtual environment and comparing the results with simulated measurements.

You will be part of a dedicated team that will implement a virtual version of the experimental setup to verify experimental parameters and quantify the performance of the system in a real environment.

As a Data Scientist, you will have the opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge to drive innovation and contribute to the development of new technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Development, setup, and commissioning of experiments to create data sets
  • Verification of experiments in a virtual environment and comparison of experimental and simulated measurement results
  • Support in the evaluation and assessment of measurement series with varying parameters to optimise the 3D reconstruction
Requirements
  • Ongoing Master's program in computer science, engineering, physics, or related fields
  • Solid experience with programming in Python and optionally C++
  • Fluency in English
  • Team-oriented player, brimming with motivation, ready to thrive in a collaborative and ever-evolving environment
