- Motion Designer for Scientific Visualization and Storytelling (M/F/d)

**Background**

**Tasks**

Key Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with scientists, climate modelers, and software engineers to translate complex data and concepts into accessible visual formats.
- Develop and produce high-quality motion graphics to visualize results of the project (climate simulations, scientific findings, technical acievements).
- Create engaging stories that convey the significance of our climate simulations and their potential impact on global climate adaptation strategies.
- Contribute to the development of Digital Twins of the climate system, aiding in the broader mission to adapt to climate change.

**Requirements**:

- Master’s degree or at least three years of professional experience in Motion Design, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Animation, Multimedia Arts, Visual Communications, Interactive Media, Computer Graphics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Adobe After Effects or similar motion design software.
- Demonstrated experience in visual storytelling, with a portfolio showcasing previous work.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Fluency in English is required.

Moreover, having one or several of the following skills would be a distinct advantage:

- Basic knowledge of Python scripting.
- Experience working with scientific data and creating visualizations for scientific research.
- Familiarity with climate science and environmental data.
- Experience in using additional design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Blender.
- Knowledge of geophysical data formats (netCDF, GRIB, zarr) and data processing tools.

While we are announcing the position at the Master's level, we consider a PhD in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or Natural Sciences (especially in climate science) to be a significant advantage.

**Further Information**

This is a full-time position, limited to 20 months. It is also suitable for part-time employment. The salary will be paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the Federation (Tarifvertrag des öffentlichen Dienstes, TVöD Bund), up to salary level **1**3**. The place of employment will be **Bremerhaven**.
