About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Game Designer to join our team at Soba Studios. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to define the core playing experience for our online multiplayer virtual world and gaming platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design first-party games and other experiences on Soba, working closely with our Product and Design teams.
  • Game Mechanics and Features: Develop and implement game mechanics, features, and social mechanics that enhance the player experience.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and product managers, to ensure seamless execution and delivery.
  • Strategy and Planning: Contribute to the development of our game portfolio strategy, including genre, style, and feature direction.
  • Player Experience: Continuously gather and act on feedback from metrics and users to improve the overall player experience.
Requirements
  • Game Design Expertise: Proven experience in designing and developing games across various genres, with a strong understanding of game mechanics and player psychology.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams, prioritize tasks, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using game development tools and technologies, with a strong ability to implement gameplay using tools made by engineers or yourself.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of the gaming industry, market trends, and player behavior, with a passion for making and playing games.
  • Communication and Feedback: Ability to effectively communicate design decisions, gather feedback, and continuously improve your craft.
  • Shipping Mindset: Proven track record of shipping games from concept to launch, with a strong focus on meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
  • Experience and Education: 5+ years of professional game design experience, with a strong portfolio of shipped games and a degree in game design or a related field.
