Position Overview
We are seeking a talented Game Designer to become a key member of our innovative team. In this role, you will have the chance to shape the fundamental gaming experience for a platform with the potential to engage millions of players. Your responsibilities will include crafting first-party games and enhancing various experiences on Soba. Additionally, you will play a significant role in shaping Soba's social functionalities and other essential elements of the platform.
As part of a small, skilled team, each member holds substantial responsibility and has the opportunity to influence both our product direction and company culture. You will take ownership of high-level features from initial planning through design and execution, participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle while addressing complex technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop first-party games utilizing Soba's tools, collaborating with team members as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Product and Design teams to enhance various aspects of the play experience.
- Assist third-party developers in creating games for Soba's diverse portfolio.
- Provide insights for the roadmap of Soba's creation tools.
- Enhance user-generated games on the Soba platform.
- Formulate strategies for Soba's first-party game portfolio, including genres and styles.
- Contribute innovative ideas to improve player experiences across the platform.
- Actively respond to feedback derived from user metrics and insights.
- Proven experience and deep understanding of various game mechanics across multiple genres.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work autonomously.
- Resourceful and capable of achieving significant outcomes independently, with a strong aptitude for implementing gameplay using both engineering tools and your own creations.
- Logical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
- A genuine passion for creating and playing games, coupled with a curiosity to analyze the factors that contribute to the success or failure of games.
- Experience in developing social mechanics within games or other products is highly advantageous.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal structure and oversight.
- Openly share information and collaborate with team members.
- Seek constructive feedback from users and colleagues, consistently looking for opportunities to enhance your skills and craft.
- Possess a results-oriented mindset.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in game design.
- Experience in shipping games from concept to launch.
- Familiarity with early-stage, rapidly iterating product teams is a plus.
- Eligibility to work in Germany, as visa sponsorship is not available at this time.
- Flexible work-from-home policy with a requirement for presence in Berlin.
