About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Product Development Manager to join our Specialties Category within the Research and Development (R&D) team at Intersnack. This pivotal international role involves collaborating with product category teams to develop and manage the creation of new snacking products across our brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop product categories according to consumer and customer requirements, leveraging market trends and competitor analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of annual budgets within the respective category, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Build relationships with R&D colleagues at multiple levels to facilitate knowledge transfer and collaboration, driving innovation and efficiency.
  • Promote a culture of innovation across the product category, encouraging experimentation and calculated risk-taking.
  • Partner with expert groups to develop and optimize tools and techniques for innovation, ensuring seamless integration with existing processes.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to leverage their innovation capabilities, driving mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Develop and deliver consumer-preferred snacks with a competitive advantage, staying ahead of market trends.
  • Translate consumer trends into product development proposals, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead production trials in collaboration with technology process experts and other R&D members, ensuring successful product launches.
  • Manage budgeted targets, Innovation Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), cost center management, and strategic resource plans, driving business growth and efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement of products and processes to secure competitiveness and cost-effectiveness, driving business excellence.

Requirements

  • College/University Degree in Food Science/Technology or equivalent work experience, with a strong foundation in product development and R&D.
  • At least 5 years' experience in similar R&D roles, with previous experience in New Product Development management and process, driving business growth and innovation.
  • Experience in developing both brands and retailer brands, with a strong understanding of market trends and competitor analysis.
  • Financial/numerical aptitude and experience of operating at a management level within the Food Industry, with a strong focus on business growth and efficiency.
  • Strong analytical ability, time management skills, and experience in coaching to develop individuals/teams, driving business excellence.
  • Competitive nature with a passion for innovation and excellence, driving business growth and success.

  • Outside the organization: Flavour houses, Product research agencies, Ingredients suppliers, Exhibitions.

Travel Requirements

This role requires frequent travel, with an expected level of travel of 50% per week, driving business growth and innovation across Europe and beyond.
