About MobiliTraIN

MobiliTraIN is a prestigious Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action Doctoral Network dedicated to advancing the understanding of ion mobility high-resolution mass spectrometry (IM-HRMS). This collaborative network brings together leading researchers from academia and industry across Europe, fostering a dynamic environment for scientific discovery and innovation.

Your Role as a PhD Researcher

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as a PhD researcher in the field of ion mobility spectrometry. You will be based at Bruker Daltonics GmbH & Co. KG in Bremen, Germany, and enrolled in the PhD program of the Jena University Hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on fundamental characteristics of tandem ion mobility spectrometry (TIMS) devices using state-of-the-art instrumentation.
  • Develop and demonstrate a 1st order CCS determination technique for TIMS, comparable to established methods used in drift tube IMS instruments.
  • Collaborate with other research labs within the MobiliTraIN network to translate your findings into biomedical applications.
  • Contribute to the development of standardized methodologies and evaluation criteria for different ion mobility spectrometry techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Physics, Physical Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience with ion mobility spectrometry, mass spectrometry, ion optics, and physics.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and gas phase instrument development.
  • Strong analytical, logical, and innovative thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience in scientific writing and publication preparation.
  • Fluent English language skills (oral and written).
