Sustainable Finance Advisor

GIZ is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Sustainable Finance Advisor. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting emerging and developing countries in their transformation of economic and financial systems.
Key Responsibilities- Project Planning and Implementation: Plan and implement project activities in partner countries, including Brazil, India, Mexico, Peru, Rwanda, and Senegal.
- Technical and Strategic Advice: Provide technical and strategic advice to local partner institutions, particularly local financial institutions, to strengthen the integration of sustainability into their strategy, governance, processes, and business practices.
- Knowledge Development and Training: Develop knowledge products and training materials for public and private audiences to enhance awareness and capacity on sustainable finance frameworks and effective implementation.
- Project Management: Manage project activities, including budget planning and monitoring, drafting terms of reference, stakeholder coordination, management of contractors, quality assurance, and impact reporting on project activities.
- Networking and Representation: Build a strong professional network with internal and external partners at German, European, and international levels. Represent GIZ as a sustainable finance expert in international conferences and workshops.
- Strategy and Operations: Contribute to the project's strategy, operational planning, impact monitoring, and the initiation of new projects and acquisition of project funds.
- Public Relations: Support the project's public relations work via internal and external channels.
- Education: University degree (diploma/master's degree) in economics, finance, or a comparable qualification.
- Experience: Several years of work experience in the commercial financial sector, financial market regulation and supervision, or academia on financial market regulation and supervision.
- Expertise: Several years of work experience in the field of sustainable finance, particularly on financing of sustainable projects/nature-based solutions, management of sustainability risks, sustainability reporting, transition planning, and financial market regulation to promote sustainability in the financial system.
- Skills: Experience in advising and delivering training to central banks, financial regulators, and supervisory authorities. Sound knowledge of development cooperation and international good practices in the field of sustainable finance.
- Language: Excellent command of the English language; proficiency in German and further languages at professional level (Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic) is considered an asset.
