Civil Engineering Underwriting Specialist

The Corporate Civil Engineering division at Munich Re F&C (Facultative & Corporate) offers tailored insurance solutions to the global civil engineering and select industrial sectors. Our team collaborates with brokers, owners/operators, and construction firms globally, managing both project (CAR/EAR) and operational (CECR/IDI) business.
We are seeking a committed engineering underwriter with expertise in civil or industrial engineering to enhance our dynamic team. This role involves a diverse range of responsibilities, including underwriting, client management, and business development activities.

YOUR ROLE
Identify, evaluate, and profitably underwrite corporate civil engineering business with an emphasis on project work. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, pricing evaluations, wording analysis, and accumulation management. Foster and enhance customer relationships, while developing new engineering business with global clients and brokers. Engage in negotiations with clients and brokers to achieve favorable outcomes aligned with our underwriting strategy. Contribute to the formulation of corporate underwriting principles. Execute risk inspections and evaluations on-site, providing loss prevention recommendations. Assist in claims management for significant claims. Stay informed about industry trends and developments. Prepare and deliver presentations and seminars for colleagues and clients.YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, industrial) or a related field. At least 5 years of industry experience; international exposure and/or experience with major projects is advantageous. In-depth knowledge of engineering principles and practices; affiliation with professional engineering organizations is a plus. Experience in underwriting or familiarity with insurance in the areas of CAR, EAR, CECR, and IDI. Strong interpersonal skills, negotiation abilities, and a customer-centric approach. Proficiency in business-level English; additional language skills (German, French, Spanish) are beneficial. Capability to work independently while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Collaborative and effective working style within an international team environment. Willingness to travel as required. ABOUT US
