Civil Engineering Underwriter

Munich Re is seeking a skilled Engineering Underwriter to join our Civil Engineering Corporate department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for acquiring, assessing, and underwriting corporate civil engineering business with a focus on project works.
Key Responsibilities- Complete risk assessments, pricing, and wording analysis for corporate civil engineering projects
- Maintain and develop customer relationships with global insureds and brokers
- Negotiate with insureds and brokers to achieve successful outcomes
- Contribute to the development of underwriting principles and guidelines
- Perform risk inspections and evaluations on site, and prepare loss prevention recommendations
- Assist with claims handling for major claims
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and trends
- University degree in engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' industry experience, with international experience and/or major project experience an advantage
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices, with affiliation with professional engineering associations an advantage
- Underwriting experience or knowledge of insurance in the fields of CAR, EAR, CECR, and IDI
- Confident and affable manner, with strong negotiating skills and customer focus
- Business-level English required, with other language skills (German, French, Spanish) an advantage
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Strong understanding of numbers and analytical skills
- Collaborative and effective work approach in an international group dynamic
