Munich Re is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Underwriter to join our Civil Engineering Corporate department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for acquiring, assessing, and profitably writing corporate civil engineering business with a focus on project works.
Key Responsibilities- Acquire and assess corporate civil engineering business opportunities
- Complete risk assessments, pricing, and wording analysis for complex projects
- Maintain and develop customer relationships with global insureds and brokers
- Negotiate with insureds and brokers to achieve successful outcomes
- Contribute to the development of underwriting principles and guidelines
- Perform risk inspections and evaluations on site, and prepare loss prevention recommendations
- Assist in claims handling for major claims
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and trends
- Prepare and conduct presentations and seminars for colleagues and clients
- University degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, industrial) or related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years' industry experience, with international experience and/or major project experience an advantage
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices, affiliation with professional engineering associations an advantage
- Underwriting experience or knowledge of insurance in the fields of CAR, EAR, CECR, and IDI
- Confident and affable manner, negotiating skills, and strong customer focus
- Business-level English required, other language skills (German, French, Spanish) an advantage
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Strong understanding of numbers and analytical skills
- Collaborative and effective work approach in an international group dynamic
- Willingness to travel
