Operations Business Unit Leader

Connecting Experts is seeking an experienced Operations Business Unit Leader to oversee the day-to-day activities and long-term goals of our business unit. The ideal candidate will promote operational excellence, ensure effective procedures, and contribute to the company's overarching business objectives.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Create and implement an operational strategy that aligns with the company's overarching goals to ensure profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Manage the business unit's daily operations, ensuring supply chain coordination, effective production, and high standards of quality are met. Process optimisation can increase output, reduce costs, and boost customer satisfaction.
  • Develop, lead, and mentor a high-achieving team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Regularly review performance and provide guidance on professional growth.
  • Oversee the business unit's financial performance, planning, and forecasting. Ensure cost-control procedures are followed and identify opportunities to reduce expenses while increasing revenue.
  • Apply Six Sigma, Lean, or other process improvement methodologies to enhance overall efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline operations.
  • Closely collaborate with supply chain, finance, sales, and other business unit leaders to ensure cross-functional alignment and efficient communication. Work together on projects that impact multiple departments within the company.
  • Establish the business unit's key performance indicators (KPIs) and track progress against them. Utilise data-driven analysis to inform initiatives for continuous improvement and make informed decisions.
  • Verify that all operating procedures comply with internal quality control procedures, legal requirements, and industry standards. Take corrective action as necessary.
  • Maintain a strong customer focus by meeting expectations, managing escalations effectively, and ensuring prompt delivery of goods and services.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks for the business unit, such as equipment malfunctions, supply chain disruptions, and compliance issues. Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, operations management, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated operations management experience (10+ years), with at least 5+ years in a leadership capacity.
  • Thorough understanding of supply chain management, operating procedures, and process optimisation methodologies.
  • Proven background in using Six Sigma, Lean, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills, with a history of leading and growing high-achieving teams.
  • Strong financial acumen and background in budgeting and performance management.
  • Outstanding analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and drive change across the organisation.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific laws, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
