Position Overview
A full-time role (40 hours/week) is available in the Department of "Optical and Rocket Soundings" as a Postdoc for the EULIAA project (f/m/d). This position is initially offered for three years and includes a salary in accordance with class EG 13 TV-L.
Research Focus
The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research in experimental atmospheric physics, emphasizing optical remote sensing techniques that extend to the stratosphere, mesosphere, and lower thermosphere. This role is closely tied to the development of portable lidar systems (light detection and ranging) in collaboration with local industry partners as part of the EU-funded EULIAA project.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research in experimental atmospheric physics.
- Develop and refine transportable lidar systems.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and local industrial partners.
- Engage in the development of new instruments and measurement methodologies.
Qualifications
- A PhD in physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, environmental sciences, or a related field.
- Experience with experimental techniques such as spectroscopy and laser physics.
- Proficient programming skills in languages such as Julia, Delphi, or C/C++.
- Familiarity with construction and 3D printing is a plus.
- Strong independent working capabilities and effective communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate within interdisciplinary teams.
