We are seeking a highly skilled PhD researcher to join our team and contribute to the development of advanced models for PEM electrolyzers. The successful candidate will work on enhancing the understanding and model development of the electrochemical function and performance of the membrane-electrode-assembly (MEA) in PEM electrolyzers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and validate models for the MEA, focusing on functional phenomena that limit performance or operation range due to complex interplay of physical mechanisms.
  • Make maximum use of public and internal sources to parametrize and validate models, and carry out model-based analyses to boost understanding of cause-effect relationships and identification of improvement measures.
  • Work with our team to shape our understanding of key component function in the field of hydrogen technologies and create a critical piece in our electrolyzer model.
  • Stay up-to-date with external and internal knowledge to deliver a valuable contribution.
  • Collaborate with our interdisciplinary and international teams to share knowledge and results in high-impact journals.
Requirements
  • Excellent Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Strong background in electrochemistry and transport phenomena, experience with modeling and/or characterization of electrochemical energy storage devices or converters, and programming skills in Python.
  • Experience with simulation tools (Comsol) or numerical optimization methods is an advantage.
  • Business fluent in English, German is an advantage.
