Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled PhD researcher to join our team at Bosch, focusing on the development of advanced models for PEM electrolyzers. The successful candidate will work on enhancing our understanding of electrode function and performance, with a focus on functional phenomena that limit the performance or operation range of the membrane-electrode-assembly (MEA).

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and validate models for the electrochemical function and performance of the MEA in PEM electrolyzers, building on existing MEA models.
  • Investigate complex interplay of different physical mechanisms that affect the performance or operation range of the MEA.
  • Make maximum use of public and internal sources to parametrize and validate the models.
  • Carry out model-based analyses to boost our understanding of cause-effect relationships and identify improvement measures for our technology.
  • Propose experiments for more advanced model development and validation.
  • Collaborate with our internal team and academic environment to share knowledge and results in high-impact journals.
Requirements
  • Excellent Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Strong background in electrochemistry and transport phenomena, with experience in modeling and/or characterization of electrochemical energy storage devices or converters.
  • Programming skills in Python, as well as experience with simulation tools (e.g., Comsol) or numerical optimization methods.
  • Business fluent in English, with German being an advantage.
