The Product Knowledge Ontology Team is dedicated to creating a unified, semantically rich, and easily accessible repository of product knowledge that can be effectively utilized across various customer shopping experiences, seller listing processes, and internal product data enhancement.

Our goal is to present product knowledge in a compelling manner that is user-friendly and feature-rich.

By developing a comprehensive understanding of product knowledge, we can accurately interpret customer intent, whether related to shopping objectives or seller product offerings.

We aim to enhance the intuitiveness of these experiences for all users.

As an Ontologist, you will collaborate with a global team of knowledge architects to produce exceptional, user-friendly, and thorough taxonomy and ontology frameworks that improve product discoverability across Amazon's web and mobile platforms.

Your role involves working alongside business stakeholders, data science experts, and engineering teams to deliver knowledge-driven solutions that enhance product visibility for customers.

This position will have a direct influence on the customer experience and the foundational product knowledge of the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design logical, semantically rich, and scalable data models for Amazon's extensive product catalog.
  • Ensure our ontologies cover all necessary sub-domains for machine processing and inference.
  • Investigate global perceptions of Amazon products to create scalable data models that address customer challenges and improve product visibility.
  • Develop new schemas utilizing Generative Artificial Intelligence (generative AI) methodologies.
  • Enhance existing data retrieval strategies by leveraging our vast product catalog and query languages.
  • Analyze website performance metrics and product discovery patterns to make informed decisions on optimizing our knowledge graph data models on a global scale.
  • Contribute to the creation of new tool features and processes for the Ontology team.
  • Promote adherence to ontology modeling and technology best practices within our organization and across Amazon.
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives with a diverse range of technical and non-technical teams.
About the Team

We are committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, providing ongoing access to internal affinity groups and promoting diversity initiatives.

We prioritize your professional development, from your initial onboarding and training sessions to continuous support throughout your career at Amazon.

We recognize each team member as an individual and aim to build on your skills to facilitate your growth.
