Role Overview: Product Safety and Compliance Engineer

As a key member of our team at OSB AG, you will be entrusted with ensuring product safety and regulatory compliance throughout the development process. Your expertise will guide our commitment to maintaining high safety standards and adherence to relevant regulations.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Product Regulatory & Compliance process, focusing on product safety.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, including manuals and operational procedures.
  • Investigate applicable safety regulations and monitor legislation impacting machinery and equipment.
  • Evaluate conformity requirements for market entry of machinery and workplace safety regulations.
  • Address occupational safety concerns related to machinery, including ergonomics, noise, vibrations, and hazardous substances.
  • Conduct risk assessments in accordance with EN ISO 12100 and implement relevant machine standards.
  • Advise developers on standards for mechanical protective devices.
  • Establish requirements for technical and supplementary protective measures, including safety barriers and emergency stop systems.
  • Assess electrical designs from supply to verification, ensuring safe operation and maintenance of electrically powered machinery.
  • Oversee the functional safety of control systems, ensuring compliance with EN ISO 13849.
  • Engage in the specification, design, and validation of functional safety control systems.
  • Determine Performance Level (PL) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) for safety functions.
  • Conduct verification and validation processes, establishing requirements for EN IEC 62061.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering and manufacturing/production environments.
  • Proficient in creating hazardous substance and operational instructions, alongside conducting hazard assessments and risk analyses.
  • Experience in evaluating products for environmental compatibility during the development phase is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the CE process and the development of electrical, mechanical, and mechatronic systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Fluent in both German and English.
