Your Role:

As a Subsystem Manager in Mannheim, you will be part of a diverse team of over 1000 professionals from 36 countries, collaborating on the development of locomotives and propulsion technologies utilized both regionally and globally. Our Rolling Stock & Components division offers an extensive range of products within the rail sector, with a strong emphasis on innovative, eco-friendly solutions, including emission-free propulsion systems such as batteries and hydrogen technology. You will report to Dirk Bertsch and collaborate with a passionate team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management and successful execution of cross-functional activities to ensure the delivery of project subsystems that meet customer requirements and adhere to quality, cost, delivery, and performance (QCDP) objectives.
  • Facilitate collaboration among subsystem-level stakeholders, manage activities and deliverables, and resolve conflicts related to engineering, product processes, costs, milestones, and interfaces to fulfill QCDP commitments.
  • Coordinate with other project stakeholders, including integration teams and various subsystem and project-level functions, to align activities within the Powertrain systems.
  • Contribute to the effective execution of projects within the defined scope of the subsystem.
  • Lead and synchronize subsystem activities and stakeholder engagement from requirements gathering and analysis through to the fulfillment of contractual obligations pertaining to the subsystem.

Candidate Profile:

  • A strong passion for the field, with a preference for attitude over extensive experience. While not all skills are mandatory, the following are advantageous:
  • A relevant academic background, preferably a Master of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronic, Railway Systems).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, particularly in rolling stock development.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering, concept design, architecture, requirements management, functional analysis, testing, and commissioning.
  • A solid understanding of hardware and software interactions within complex system architectures.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations applicable to rolling stock.
  • Open-mindedness, entrepreneurial spirit, problem identification and resolution skills, and a sense of urgency.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and the ability to motivate teams.
  • Strong presentation and writing skills, emphasizing clarity, rigor, and conciseness.
  • Fluency in English and German, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multinational and distributed engineering team.
