Req ID: 458893
At Alstom, we are committed to enhancing transport networks and facilitating the movement of people. Our extensive portfolio includes high-speed trains, metros, monorails, trams, turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signaling, and digital mobility solutions. Every day, our 80,000 dedicated colleagues contribute to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities while reducing carbon emissions and replacing traditional vehicles.
Your Future Role:
In our Mannheim facility, over 1000 professionals from 36 different nations collaborate to innovate locomotives and develop signal and propulsion technologies for vehicles utilized both regionally and globally. Our product line in Rolling Stock & Components provides the most comprehensive offerings in the rail industry. We are focused on pioneering green and intelligent solutions, including emission-free propulsion systems such as batteries and hydrogen. You will report to Dirk Bertsch and work with a passionate and committed team.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Powertrain Subsystem Manager is accountable for overseeing and successfully completing cross-functional initiatives that lead to the delivery of a project sub-system, meeting both customer expectations and established QCDP objectives.
- Manage sub-system level stakeholders, activities, and deliverables across functions, making necessary decisions (engineering, product x process, costs, milestones, interfaces, etc.) to achieve QCDP commitments.
- Coordinate activities related to Powertrain systems with other project stakeholders, including integration teams and other sub-systems.
- Contribute to the successful execution of projects within the allocated sub-system scope of work.
- Lead and synchronize sub-system activities and stakeholders, from requirement capture and analysis to fulfilling project contractual obligations within the sub-system scope.
- Ensure alignment and coordination of sub-system activities with other sub-systems and project teams.
Qualifications:
- We prioritize passion and attitude over experience. While we do not expect you to possess every skill, we have identified several that will help you thrive and progress in this role:
- Relevant academic background, preferably a Master of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronic, Railway System).
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role with pertinent experience in rolling stock development.
- Familiarity with system engineering, concept design and architecture, requirement management, functional analysis, testing, and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of hardware and software interactions within complex system architectures.
- Knowledge of applicable standards and regulations for rolling stock.
- Open-mindedness, entrepreneurial spirit, problem identification and resolution skills, and a sense of urgency.
- Leadership qualities and ability to motivate teams.
- Excellent presentation and writing skills, emphasizing clarity, rigor, and conciseness.
- Proficiency in English and German, comfortable working within a multinational and distributed engineering team.
Benefits:
- Join us on a transformative journey – the rail industry is enduring, allowing you to develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You will also:
- Experience a dynamic work environment with a permanent position at a leading company in green mobility.
- Enjoy a competitive remuneration package (IG Metall), 30 days of vacation, and benefits such as company pension plans and subsidized travel options.
- Optimize your work-life balance with flexible working hours and hybrid working models.
- Explore growth opportunities and navigate your career across various functions and countries.
- Benefit from exceptional training opportunities through our award-winning Alstom University and engage in the company's innovation culture through idea management programs.
- Thrive in a modern and collaborative workplace with mentorship programs, diversity and inclusion initiatives, CSR activities, and engaging employee events.
- Access comprehensive corporate health management initiatives.
- Take advantage of corporate benefits.
You do not need to be a train enthusiast to succeed with us. We assure you that when you experience our trains with friends or family, you will feel a sense of pride. If you are ready for this opportunity, we would be eager to hear from you.
