Job Summary
The Universität Hamburg is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join the TRR 181 Energy Transfers in Atmosphere and Ocean project. The successful candidate will be part of the theoretical oceanography group at the University of Hamburg, working under the supervision of Dr. Friederike Pollmann and Prof. Dr. Carsten Eden.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research in oceanography and numerical modeling, focusing on the development of a computationally cheap simplified IDEMIX model and its evaluation in global scale observations.
- Collaborate with experimental oceanographers at the University of Bremen and climate modelers at the University of Bremen, Alfred-Wegener-Institut für Polar- und Meereskunde, and Max-Planck-Institut für Meteorologie.
- Participate in the research training group ENERGY, which provides dedicated training courses, international networking opportunities, and a mentoring program to support career development.
Requirements
- University degree in a relevant field.
- Genuine interest in independent research in oceanography and numerical modeling, data analysis, and scientific presentation and publication.
- Excellent English skills and ability to work in an international and interdisciplinary team.
